Jeremiah 11:18-20, Psalm 7:2-3, 9-12, John 7:40-53

Jeremiah 11:18-20

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

Once again we see how Jeremiah the prophet while speaking of the threats and persecution against him at the time, were really a foreshadow of what was to come. You are the gentle Lamb that was slaughtered for the salvation of the world. It was You against whom all those in power plotted against.

You knew all that You would have to suffer for our sake. The authorities mistakenly believed and so did so many later that by destroying You and later on Your followers that they would destroy our faith in You. Your enemies through every age have sought to destroy You by persecuting and destroying the Church. They still do not know that the blood of martyrs is the seed of Christians.

Jeremiah speaks about witnessing the vengeance of God over his enemies. The only vengeance You desired Beloved, is a vengeance of Love to replace hate, a vengeance of unity over division, a vengeance of true filial love for one another because God first loved us.

Psalm 7:2-3, 9-12

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

David was hunted remorselessly by Saul and had to hide from him and flee constantly each time Saul discovered where he was. His life was without peace and yet he never doubted that God would protect him.

Today the Church recalls this psalm in the context of the Son of David and the Son of Man would have to suffer. You knew what to expect from those who plotted ceaselessly against You. However, they would not be able to lay a finger against You until You decided that the hour had come. You gave Yourself up to death and You would take up Your life again.

The malice of the wicked against the wickedness continues Beloved, but those who follow You know that You are their refuge, their rock, their hiding place. In You we are safe from the enemy who cannot approach if we are in You.

Thank You Beloved for making a sanctuary for those who love You in Your Sacred Heart.

John 7:40-53

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

We are coming to the end of the Liturgical Calendar. The drama is building up. You are in Jerusalem and Your enemies are in high places believing they have the power to do with You as they will. Three years have gone since You began Your public ministry. Three years in which to reveal and accomplish all that Your Father desired and now the time is drawing near for Your ultimate Sacrifice. But not yet. You are preaching in public, the crowd is around You, they are divided. Some believe You are the Christ. They have seen and heard You and faith stirs in their hearts. Others however are ignorant of Your past. They judge You from what they know of You since You began Your public life and they made no effort to know anything else about You.

This is what happens to us to too, we make wrong conclusions when we look at things partially. A little digging in Your past and they would seen the fulfillment of the prophecies but they were lazy just as we too can be when we take Scripture out of context or don't go back to history to seek the truth about how it all began, how it developed, and why we do what we do today.

The guards were powerless to arrest You because they too were mesmerized by what You said, they had never encountered or heard anyone like You before. The Pharisees sneered at them and dismissed them instead of hearing them out. This is what we do to - when things don't fit into our way of thinking we reject it because we are too proud.

There were voices of reason like the voice of Nicodemus who knowing You tried his best to protect You because he believed in secret. But they shut him down too saying,

"You are not from Galilee also, are you?
Look and see that no prophet arises from Galilee."

You did not fit their preconceived mold  and so instead of having a dialogue with Nicodemus and arriving at the truth they isolated themselves and each went his own way.

Thank You Beloved for the Church and for her Living Memory in her Traditions which are handed down faithfully from generation to generation and will be preserved and accepted until You come again. Thank You for the Church and for the Truth which she teaches without error. Thank You for the confidence we can have in her because for over 2000 years she has never been wrong in matters concerning faith and morals. THANK YOU!!!!
