2 Samuel 7:4-5A, 12-14A, 16

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

God is faithful, He keeps His Word, His Eternal Word. Just as He promised He chose a descendant of David to become the foster father of His Beloved Son. St. Joseph was privileged not only to be chosen as the spouse of our Blessed Mother, but to be called abba by the Son of God.

How You must have loved and honored St. Joseph all the years of his life on earth. What a great joy You would have been to him. He would know with the deepest conviction of the great favor God, the Almighty had bestowed on him to watch over not only His Son but His fairest daughter, the first in every grace and virtue over every creature.

Dear St. Joseph, you continue to watch over the adopted brothers and sisters of the Son you watched over so faithfully. We bring our prayers and petitions to you dear Saint so you can take them to Jesus on our behalf. He obeyed you on earth and in heaven He will deny you nothing. I entrust myself, my family, the Church, and the world to you; intercede for us so that we may all come safely home at last, to pay Him homage with Mary our Mother, with you, and with all the angels and saints forever. Amen.

Psalm 89:2-5, 27 & 29

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

We thank our heavenly Father for St. Joseph and for his silent witness to the privilege of being entrusted to watch over You and Your Mother, his spouse Mary. His was a holy and reverential silence as he lay down his life in fulfilling the precious mission given to him.

He was a creature like us and a powerful witness of what is possible if we, like him, are docile to the will of God. He listened and he obeyed promptly, Once he was aware that the Baby in Mary's womb was conceived by the Holy Spirit he became the faithful sentinel before the Ark of the Covenant as he watched over the Lamb of God.

The Son who called addressed him as father on earth was in fact his God, his Rock and his Savior. Awesome!!!

Romans 4:13, 16-18, 22

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

Of Abraham Scripture says that he is our father in faith. The same Scripture says of St. Joseph that he was a righteous man. Righteousness is an undeniable quality among those who are beloved of God. Of You too the Centurion confessed as he stoop beneath the Cross, "Surely this was a righteous man."

Beloved, we thank You for the witness of St. Joseph. He shows us how to be pleasing to God. Once we know the will of the Father we are called to obey promptly, wholeheartedly and joyfully. If he did not act when God asked him to he would have put life in jeopardy when You were a Baby. His heart broke when You were lost in the temple for three days. Only God and and Mother Mary know what agony he suffered. How he must have tormented himself, blaming himself for not watching over the Son of God as he ought. To see Mary's silent grief, not a word of complaint escaping her lips, would have added to his agony. Dear St. Joseph he would understand the agony of parents and of a spouse. Thank You Beloved for giving us such a Saint to whom we can take our prayers and intercession and You will gladly give him all he asks for on our behalf for You continue to give him honor as You did on earth.

Matthew 1:16, 18-21, 24A

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

Today the Liturgy gives us a choice of two Gospel readings, one tells us who Joseph was and how You were conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of Your Virgin Mother Mary. And how the Angel appeared to him in a dream and told him who You truly were and how he embraced You and Mary for his own.

The other Gospel reading is about how You were lost in the temple. When Mary and Joseph find You in the temple Mary says, "Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety." St. Joseph does not speak, instead Mary expresses the torment that he underwent.

We thank You Heavenly Father for the witness of St. Joseph, for his tender and watchful love of Mary his most chaste spouse and our dearest Mother, and for his devotion and tender love for Your Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
