You have but one Father in heaven
and one master, the Christ. Mt. 23:9-10
Malachi 1:14-2:2, 8-10, Psalm 131:1-3, 1 Thessalonians 2:7-9, 13, Matthew 23:1-10
Malachi 1:14-2;2, 8-10
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
To each of the Baptized is given a sacred trust and we dare not fail in it lest we be judged and cast away from Your holy Presence. It is given to us to make You known and loved so that all may be saved. This is the great mission. My life must reflect You faithfully in all I say and do. The way I live must testify to Your great love and in doing so many must come to yearn to know You and love You as I do.
I must have this great burden day in and day out, this burning within me that will find no rest until all those I encounter come to know You through my daily witness. Not by might, not by words so much but by the way I live from moment to moment, led by Your Spirit, in the shadow of Your Presence, living in love and loving always. If I fail in being the person that I am called to be and fail in the work that is given to me I will call judgement on myself. Thank You for providing me with all I need to carry out the work entrusted to me faithfully. May I not fail You my Lord.
Psalm 131:1-3
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
I am but Your own little nothing and I am aware that I cannot do great things because I am a broken reed, I am a flickering wick. It is You and Your Spirit that sustains me, gives me strength, enlightens me. I hide under Your wings and I am protected as I rest in Your shadow. It is You who will in me, speaks through me, acts through me. I am only Your little one who is led by You and more often than not carried by You because I have no strength of my own.
You are my hope. You are my strength. You are my joy. Without You I can accomplish nothing. Stay with me Beloved always and grant me the wisdom to rely on You and You alone always.
1 Thessalonians 2:7-9, 13
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
St. Paul tells us today how we are to minister to all whom You send our way each day. Beginning with those in our own homes. We are to be as gentle as a nursing mother with her children. We are called to share not only the Good News but our very selves generously and without counting the cost. We are called to work tirelessly in carrying out the tasks entrusted to us according to our vocation. We are called to do so without grumbling but cheerfully. We are not to burden others with our complaints and our whining, rather we must be cheerful and joyful with the joy of the Spirit.
Thank You Beloved, for calling me and for giving me a place with You. I know that You desire that I bring with me many by my faithful witness to Your love. Grant me the grace I need to be faithful always.
Matthew 23:1-10
Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,
The key to the Kingdom of Heaven is to know who I am. To know that although I am a child of God I must also know that I am but a servant in His service. While God is our Father and I am privileged to address Him as such, I am also a laborer in the vineyard. I am called to toil and to help those around me so they too can come to the knowledge of truth.
Those souls entrusted to me I am called to lead gently, tenderly, lovingly. I must not lord it over them. I must not put too heavy a burden on them too difficult for them to carry, but I must help them step by step, little by little so they can come to the the knowledge of Truth that God is their Father, and that You are the Christ, the anointed of God who came to redeem a fallen world. Only in humility will I be able to carry out my mission faithfully. You hate hypocrites. You hate the proud and the haughty. We are all called to serve in love and only those who do so in humility will find a place in Your Sacred Heart.
