Romans 3:21-30, Psalm 130:1-6, Luke 11:47-54

I am the way and the truth and the life, says the Lord;
no one comes to the Father except through me. Jn 14:6

Romans 3:21-30, Psalm 130:1-6, Luke 11:47-54

Romans 3:21-30

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

It is faith in You and not in the law or anything or anyone else that saves us. All of us have sinned -  no one who can stand before God and claim that they are sinless, only God is without holy, righteous, and pure. But God desires to forgive all who believe that we are saved by the power of the redemption You won for us on the Cross. It is Your Blood, the Blood of the innocent Victim who took our place and lay down His life for us and paid the penalty that was our in death, that we who have faith, are made righteous because of what we believe. No one can claim that they are saved because of being born Jew or Gentile, but we are saved because we have faith in You, the only Son of God. If You were God only of the Jews You would not be God, You are the God of all and there is only One God and in Him, through faith, we are saved.

Psalm 130:1-6

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

With You and in You is loving kindness and forgiveness of all sin. Those who walk with You, those whom You hear as we cry out to You to save us find in You perfect peace. You are a God of mercy and compassion. Slow to anger and ready to forgive us our transgressions when we approach You with contrite hearts and resolve with Your help to sin no more.

You came for me, for sinners, this is why we know that we need never be ashamed no matter how far we have fallen from grace. You will never turn away the one who comes with confidence that in You they will find forgiveness of all sins. Those who trust in You and in Your Word will  never be disappointed. The soul that clings to You will be consoled.

Luke 11:47-54

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

You do not mince words when You speak the truth to those whose hearts are hard and filled with pride and self-righteousness. The Scribes and the Pharisees hated You because You were not afraid of them, they were not used to being treated with such little regard. The poor who were ignorant were harassed and bullied by them but You stood before them and made known to the people their many hypocrisies and for this they would not forgive You.

You condemned them in public and You made them aware that they were no better than their ancestors who killed the prophets and to whom they built memorials thus testifying that their ancestors were murderers. You called them whited sepulchers for they appeared good on the outside but inside were full of evil.

 You warned them that the day of reckoning had arrived when they would have to take a stance for the truth embodied in You or if they would continue to hem and haw and find ways to dodge it. You warned them about laying to great a burden on the poor without lifting a finger to show them mercy. It is no wonder then, that they would not tolerate You for undermining their authority and their position of prominence, and would find a way to put You to death in the worst way imaginable. Yet, You did not shy away from making the truth known to them.
