May the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
enlighten the eyes of our hearts,

Isaiah 25:6-10

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

This is Your assurance to the Church that has You for its foundation and cornerstone, that the day is coming when You will prepare a feast for Your people. The prophet Isaiah made this prophecy about You and about those who would be baptized into Your Body. To us who eat the food of eternal life in the Holy Eucharist already receive life from You as You lead us to the banquet table laden with the choicest graces and blessings. Our hope is in You, our trust is in You, our faith is in You and this is why You console us and dry our tears. In You we have forgiveness of sin, restoration, and fullness. In You we have new beginnings no matter how far we may have fallen into the abyss. You are our God who saves. We lift our gaze to You and rejoice that Your hand is upon us now and always.

Psalm 231-6

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

Thank You for inspiring king David to write this psalm which consoles us and reassures us that You are always beside us. We are never alone. You lead us, guide us, feed us, quench our thirst, heal us, refresh us, and give us rest to renew our journey everyday and draw closer to You.

Thank You for all the ways in which You ensure that we will not be lost as we journey from this life to the life that is eternal. Thank You for being our Good Shepherd and for Your assurances that You will remain us until journey's end

Philippians 4:12-14, 19-20

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

St. Paul teaches us that if we place all our confidence in You like a child we will trust You to take care of all our needs. You will ensure that all that we require will be given to us. He speaks of living in the world and not being too concerned about whether we have or have not. In the times of plenty we are content, and in the lean times we are still content for we know that You will strengthen us through all the circumstances of our life. You are our Food and Drink and having You we have everything.

Matthew 22:1-14

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

To all whom You have called You have given all the we need to make it to journey's end.

The people first invited rejected You even though God sent His prophets to tell them of Your coming. They preferred their own idea of how the Messiah would come and how He would crush and defeat the Roman empire. They looked for a Messiah that would fit in with their perception of Him and when You came and announced that You were the One they were waiting for, they refused to believe. You did not fit their preconceived idea of You and so they rejected You.

In today's parable You tell them clearly what would happen to them. They would miss the opportunity for which God had so carefully prepared for them to be saved. So God would give His invitation to others whom the chief priests, and elders considered outcasts and sinners. These would be invited to the Banquet of the King but even those who accept the invitation cannot take salvation for granted. We must clothe ourselves in the garments of righteousness if not we will find ourselves cast into the darkness forever.
