Hosea 8:4-7, 11-13, Psalm 115:3-10, Matthew 9:32-38

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

 Hosea 8:4-7, 11-13, Psalm 115:3-10, Matthew 9:32-38

Hosea 8:4-7, 11-13

My soul's beloved, Scripture no matter when it was written is alive and is applicable today just as it was in the time it was written.  We vote for leaders who are not chosen by You. We do not pray and discern if the candidates standing for office are the ones You desire to appoint to govern us. Rather candidates are chosen who will continue to allow people to sin and make choices that are sinful. They will make it lawful to sin and they will use their power to ensure that those who resist are punished. Idols are made of worldly and created things. Creature receive adulation for as long as they fit in a mold and are discarded when a new more desirable creature comes along. Power, money, fame and possessions are the things that people hunger and thirst for rather than the living God. And You assure us that as we sow the wind we shall reap a whirlwind with such strong force our own greed and desires will destroy us.

Even those who make a public show of their devotion to God and offer the required Sacrifice and eat the Flesh of the Lamb, and drink His Blood, they and all who are like them eat and drink their damnation, for they make a mockery of the Sacred and Divine. To these You say that they will once more be enslaved to all their passions just at God's people were once in chains and enslaved in Egypt. The day of reckoning will surely come - in Your tender mercy and compassion grant that we will return to You before we are destroyed and damned forever.

Psalm 115:3-10

My soul's beloved, Your faithful remnant trust in You and hope in Your Word. We know that You are in heaven and that You watch over us lovingly, constantly drawing us from the mire of sin and guiding us back to the Way of Life. Wisdom will dawn, good sense will prevail when we see our idols crushed into dust or consumed with fire and reduced to ash. We will return for the Good Shepherd as vowed that He will look for the lost, find them and carry them home to Himself.

Matthew 9:32-38

My soul's beloved, as long as we are possessed by evil we are incapable of anything good but You have the power to set us free from any bondage that holds us captive and ensnares us. Once You set us free and we come to the knowledge of truth we are called to go out into the world and proclaim the Good News of how God has saved us. The whole world is our mission field and is hungering and thirsting to know You - help us Lord to step out boldly in faith and to be generous in sharing all that we have received at no cost.
