Philippians 2:5-11, Psalm 22:26-32, Luke 14:15-24

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Philippians 2:5-11, Psalm 22:26-32, Luke 14:15-24

Philippians 2:5-11

My Beloved, we all have a sense of entitlement, we believe that certain things are owed to us and we get really upset when we feel that we have not received what is due to us.

These verses reveal that this is not Your way.  While being God, You could have demanded and received, grasped and taken what is rightfully Yours - You did not.  Rather,  yielding in humility and obedience You did what the Father desired.  You died a shameful, painful, ignominious death in order, in order to bring about our salvation according to the Father's plan.  This is the reason why God has exalted you above, before and beyond all.  You conquered death, the world, the flesh, sin and Satan and You have been given dominion over all things visible and invisible.

All rule, authority, power and kingship have been given You.  At Your Name which is above every other name all creatures fall on their faces and worship You who are the First Born Son of the Living God.

Psalm 22:26-32

My Beloved, each day I am privileged to join the faithful and partake in the heavenly banquet which is a foretaste of the eternal banquet in heaven.  I along with our people  strive to live out my vows according to my state in life.  I eat Your Body and I am nourished and satisfied.  I long for the day when the whole earth will acknowledge that salvation comes from You alone and together we will praise Your Nae as we all bow down in adoration and worship.

Thank You for Your assurance that the souls who have died and whose bodies are buried also bow and give You homage.  With Your help, I shall live for You alone and those who come after me will continue to praise You and serve You.

Thank You.

Luke 14:15-24

My Beloved, the spirit is willing but our flesh is weak.  The time of our salvation is at hand but we are too caught up with eating, drinking and living in the flesh.  We are not ready to let go of the temporal and turn to that which is eternal.

We forget that our time on earth is over in a blink of an eye and having spent our whole earthly life obsessed with trivialities we will find to our consternation that having ignored Your wonderful open invitation to come into a deep relationship with You and fellowship with You there is no room for us at Your table.
