DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

2 John 4-9, Psalm 119:1-2, 10-11, 17-18, Luke 17:26-37

2 John 4-9

My Beloved, the reason why You sent Your Holy Spirit on the Church and her members was to enable her to love.  He reveals that the God's nature is love, He reveals the depths of His love for You and for us His sinful creatures and He reveals the depths of Your love for the Father and for us by Your loving, joyful, obedience and submission to His will.

Love is not a feeling or a desire that is subject to change.  Love is a decision and resides in the will.  God's nature is love and the Holy Spirit invites us to share in that nature.  We are given only two commandments the first is to love God and the second to love each other as we love ourselves.  Love is the reason why we are.  Love created us and love is our eternal destiny.

The Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of Truth helps us to understand all You taught, preached and did while You lived.  here is no new revelation or doctrine.  You are God's only and final Word and we are invited to live according this revealed truth and this sacred deposit of our faith is entrusted to Your Church.

Psalm 119:1-2, 10-11, 17-18

My Beloved, once we understand that Your law is the law of love and when we obey Your command love we fulfill the law.  You are the Eternal Word of God and in You the Father has revealed to us His nature which is love.  When we treasure God's Word it is You we treasure.  The more we love You the greater will be our hunger and thirst for You which only You can satisfy with Your Word as our guide we will not stray from the way of love that leads to God.

Help me not to be blinded by the passing pleasures of the world but to keep Your law of love and truth always before me as a light to guide my steps and as life to strengthen me in faith, hope and love.

Luke 17:26-37

Verse 33
Whoever tries to save his life will lose himself, but whoever gives his life will be born again.

My Beloved, You showed us that a life worth living is a life that is spent in love for others.  It is so easy to get lost in the things of the world.  It offers so many distractions that take our minds away from eternal truths.  Our attention span is limited as artificial needs and desires are created by the world and we lust after these things forgetting that this life is only a preparation for the one that is to come and which will last eternally.

Thank You for Your Church and for her ministers and most of all thank You for Your Holy Spirit who is our Comforter and our Guide.
