Tobit 2:9-14

Although Tobit was a good and upright man, who did good and gave alms to the poor, misfortune dogged his footsteps yet he did not lose his faith and hope in God.

Beloved in the face of adversity grant me a steadfast faith and a joyous spirit. Amen.

Psalm 112:1-2, 7-9

My Beloved, those who love You and obey Your commands are blessed with every good and perfect gift.  In the midst of sorrow they know joy for they have put all their hope and faith in You therefore they are never disappointed.

Help us never to forget the poor Lord and grant us the grace to see You in them.

Mark 12:13-17

Some people were sent from the group of the Pharisees and Herod's party to trap You.  They began with flattery.  Everything they said about You was true, You had no fear of Your enemies but they wanted to lull Your suspicions about their motives.  By trapping You they knew they could cast doubts on Your credibility.  But You turned the tables neatly on them.  They had to admire Your razor sharp intellect which rendered them  speechless.  Such wisdom can only from God.

Grant me grace my Lord to do my part and to trust You to supply everything I need to be effective in the little mission You have trusted to me.   Amen.
