1 Corinthians 11:17-26,33, Psalm 40:7-10, 17, Luke 7:1-10

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS:

1 Corinthians 11:17-26,33

Verse 21.....Or perhaps you despise the Church of God and desire to humiliate those who have nothing.

My Beloved, the greatest of all gifts, the Gift of gifts is Your Body and Blood that is given to us as spiritual food for our journey.  We need desperately to be strengthened by the Food You provide if we are to grow in holiness and perfection.

At each Holy Eucharist, when  You come into my heart, we become one flesh.  Your Sacred is one with mine, our hearts beats as one.  There is no greater intimacy on earth than this, it is the intimacy that is a foretaste of heaven when You the Bridegroom will be one with His little nothing, His little spouse, eternally.

Why then do we give scandal to each other? Why are we so indifferent? Why do we treat this Holy Sacrament as just an obligation that has to be over and done with once a week as if it were a dull, dry, dreary duty that we perform with feet dragging and hearts far away? We come dressed inappropriately or indifferently, utterly unmindful of the fact that You are God, Lord and King. Some of us arrive with our fancy clothes and our fancy cars much like the Pharisees in Your time who wore large tassels and phylacteries in order that they may be seen, admired and possibly envied by those less fortunate. Instead of being caught up in worship we are caught up with distractions.

It is better if we did not show up for our souls receive no grace rather, our indifference and lack of preparation when we receive the Bread of Angels merits us nothing, for our bodies are present but our hearts are not.
23-26 & 33 .... 23 This is the tradition of the Lord that I received and that in my turn I have handed on to you; the Lord Jesus, on the night that he was delivered up, took bread and, 24 after giving thanks, broke it, saying, “This is my body which is broken for you; do this in memory of me.” 25 In the same manner, taking the cup after the supper, he said, “This cup is the new Covenant in my blood. Whenever you drink it, do it in memory of me.” 26 So, then, whenever you eat of this bread and drink from this cup, you are proclaiming the death of the Lord until he comes.

This is the Tradition - the Apostolic Tradition handed down by the apostles exactly as they received it from You.  It is solemn, it is tender, it is love made visible.  It is stupendous and it is unbelievable what God does for us at each celebration of the Holy Eucharist.  It must make the angels weep with sorrow because we do not even begin to comprehend the magnitude of God's love in stooping so low in perfect humility in order to raise us up to Himself.

It is better to stay away from this Banquet of Love than to scandalise others and condemn ourselves by our stupidity, our coldness, our ignorance and our indifference.
Psalm 40:7-10, 17

You speak this psalm through the lips of the prophet.  It describes succinctly the Gift of the Sacrifice that You make to the Father.  The only Sacrifice pleasing and acceptable to Him in atonement for our sins.

Luke 7:1-10

My Beloved, Your Word is alive and powerful and lends itself to many interpretations.  Like a multi-faceted gem they throw up rays of light from different angles.

The centurion is the Church, the servant who is sick represents us her members who are sinful - sick with the disease of sin.  The elders who plead with You on behalf of the centurion, Your Church, are your anointed Bishops and priests.  They plead with You at each Sacrament especially Reconciliation and the Holy Eucharist to come and make us whole.  They mediate like Moses who stood in the breech they too stand in the breech between You and us and they intercede for us.  You hear and are glad and You are always ready and willing to come and attend to us.  Their prayers on our behalf will always move You to come and heal us and feed us.

The Church acknowledges that we are sinners and therefore unworthy to have You come to us, but in faith we believe that all You need to do is to speak the Word - the unchanging Eternal Word which is the same yesterday, today and forever, the Word which is Love, Light, Truth, Life, Hope and Grace and Your servants are healed through the Word entrusted to the ministers of Your Church and we are fed and healed by them who act in Persona Christi.  THANK YOU MY BELOVED!!!.
