Exodus 16:2-4, 12-15, Psalm 78:3-4, 23-25, 54, Ephesians 4:17, 20-24, John 6:24-35

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS:

John 6:24-35

My Beloved how often we get so caught up with the things of the flesh, and with satisfying the senses with its insatiable demands, that we completely lose sight of the fact that we also have souls that need saving.  In the constant rat race of having more and better and desiring to have it exactly how we want it and when we want it, we forget the Father's providence in supplying all our needs.  We are taken up with the cheap, tawdry baubles that the flesh craves and we lose sight of the pearl of great price and the treasure hidden in the field.

You have taught us to pray for bread sufficient for the day.  Our lack of trust in You tempts us to hoard lest there be nothing left for us tomorrow.  Too late we understand that what is kept for tomorrow becomes stale while it deprives another of their legitimate share today.  You alone my Lord can satisfy every hunger, thirst and need.

It is to the simple, open, childlike and guileless that You have revealed the love of our Father and the treasures of the Kingdom, His Holy Spirit.  the heart of the Father is the heart of the Son that burns with love for us.  I will proclaim to all the marvellous things You do for us.  You never rest but Your watchful eye is on me all the time.

"Do not live an aimless life."  Beloved You have called Your own to live lives of loving service to God and to neighbor in this is true joy, contentment and fulfillment.

Give up the old self - the selfish and the faultfinding critical narrow judgmental self that is constantly looking for flaws in others in order to hide one's one failings or to feel self righteous.  Rather allow the Holy Spirit to make of You a new creation filled with God's own holiness and perfection.

Beloved, the boats represent the different faiths but all are on a quest for You. We sail along the perils of life and the compass of our souls are created to point in Your direction. Grant us the grace to follow the promptings and guidance of the Holy Spirit in sincerity and we will surely find You.  When we do discover You Lord let us not waste time asking inane questions rather let us discover Your will for our lives.  Let us seek  the Bread that satisfies in the Eucharist.  Grant me the grace to be attuned to the promptings of the Holy Spirit always.
