Daily Mass Readings: 1 Timothy 3:1-13, Luke 7:11-17, Psalm 101:1-3, 5-6
1 Timothy 3:1-13
Beloved, all who are called to serve in the Church in whatever capacity, have the most beautiful and detailed guidelines as given here by St. Paul in his first letter to Timothy. This is true for every member of the Church's hierarchy from the highest to the lowest. Ministers, Deacons, Leaders both men and women. We thank and praise You for those who have consistently given a good example and thus strengthened the faith of the Church and have enabled her to shine as a beacon on a hilltop.
Luke 7:11-17
My Beloved as we read about the healing of the son of the widow of Naim, we are made aware of the fact that You know and understand our grief. You see every tear even those we weep in secret. Your heart is always moved with pity. You pledge to be the strength of the widow, the orphan, and the marginalized.
This widow in today's Gospel reading is proof that You will not pass by silent and unmoved. Your hear our lament. You stop. You not only sympathize and say, "Don't cry." But You do something to alleviate our sorrow. You don't just speak empty words nor do You make empty gestures. You approach, You touch, You act with perfect, tender love and awesome power. You have power over the dead and You restore to health and wholeness.
No sinner no matter how great the guilt is beyond Your power to heal and restore to life.
Thank You for the hope we have in You.
Psalm 101:3 & 6
3 I will not set before my eyes anything that is base. I hate the deeds of faithless people; I will have no part in them.
6 I will choose from the faithful of the land those who may dwell with me; only the upright shall be my servant.
