Daily Meditation: Sirach 47:8-10
Sirach 47:8-10
8 In all that he did he gave thanks to the Most High, and showed his love for his Maker by singing with all his heart.
9 He placed singers accompanied by harps before the altar to make beautiful music; 10 he gave splendor to feasts and even greater magnificence to the more solemn occasions, exalting the holy Name of the Lord and having the sanctuary ring with his praises from early morning.
My Beloved, may I like David give thanks to You always, may my heart sing with praise to You. May the inner sanctuary of my being where Your Holy Spirit dwells begin its praise from early morning and continue through the hours of the day until I lie down to sleep at night. As I sleep, may my spirit continue singing and praising Your Holy Spirit who dwells in me.
Daily Mass Readings: 1 Kings 19:9, 11-13, Romans 9:1-5,
Matthew 14:22-23, Psalm 85:9-14
1 Kings 19:9, 11-13
My Beloved, the cave that Elijah entered represents my heart - there I encounter You. You are not in the storm that rages around me, nor are You in the upheavals of my life - You are present in the gentle breeze. Your Spirit moves in me in the quiet and stillness of my soul. He sustains me with His Breath and His Life pulses through my being. Because He lives in me, I live.
Matthew 14:22-23
Beloved,it is not easy to find You in crowds, in the noise, in the din of the world, in the storm of daily events that often threaten to engulf us. If we want to experience You, then we must be prepared to step out of the boat once we recognize You. We must have the confidence of knowing that if we keep our eyes locked in Yours we will be safe. We have to respond to Your invitation and when You hold out Your hand we must confidently place in it our own. We must cling to You and You will take us safely home. We will not sink if You have Your arms wrapped around us.
