Daily Meditation: Psalm 45:11-12
Psalm 45:11-12
11 Listen, O daughter, pay attention;
forget your father’s house and your nation,
12 and your beauty will charm the King,
for he is your lord.
Here I am my Lord, Your daughter because I am grafted into Christ, the Beloved, Your Son. Grant me the grace to listen always and hearing may I always seek to do Your will not matter what the cost may be.
Daily Mass Readings: Joshua 24:1-13, Matthew 19:3-12,
Psalm 136:1-3, 16-18, 21-22, 24
Matthew 19:3-12
10 The disciples said, “If that is the condition of a married man, it is better not to marry.” 11 Jesus said to them, “Not everybody can accept what you have just said, but only those who have received this gift. 12 There are eunuchs born so from their mother’s womb. Some have been made that way by others. But there are some who have given up the possibility of marriage for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let the one who can accept it, accept it.”
Beloved if there was ever a case for the requirement of chastity and celibacy in the priesthood it is stated by You in these verses, clearly, simply and profoundly. The priesthood is a gift given by God and chastity is part of this beautiful package.
