Daily Meditation: Deuteronomy 32:10-13
Deuteronomy 32:10-13
10 In the wilderness he found them,
in a barren, howling wasteland;
he shielded them and cared for them
as the apple of his eye.
11 Like an eagle watching its nest,
hovering over its young,
supporting them on its spread wings
and carrying them on its pinions,
12 the Lord alone led them,
without the aid of a foreign god.
13 He made them ride on the heights
and live on the produce of the earth.
He gave them honey to suck from the rock,
olive oil from the hard stony crag.

Daily Mass Reading: Acts 6:1-7, John 6:16-21, Psalm 33:1-2, 4-5, 18-19
Acts 6:1-7
My Beloved, there were dissatisfied and disgruntled people in the early Church as well. There were genuine problems that the Apostles had to handle and solve. This continues to be the case. Mistakes will be made because Your Church is made up of the human family who are prone to sin and error. The Church is universal and is present the world over and has under its wing, people of every nation, tribe and language. There will be times of discord and Satan, ever alert, will do all he can to sow dissent, confusion and division. Yet, we must never lose heart but must continue to pray for every member of Holy Mother Church.
John 6:16-21
Beloved, the disciples are full of the miracle You have just worked in the multiplication of the loaves and fish. They leave You behind at Your request and are at the shore. We are told it is evening. They are tired and they get into a boat (it wasn't Peter's or the evangelist would have mentioned it as it is always significant when Scripture points out that it was Peter's boat which is a symbol of Your Church.) It is getting dark and in their human wisdom the disciples make the call to proceed on their own to the other side of the lake. They were afraid the crossing would become even more difficult and dangerous if they waited any longer for You. This was a grave error in judgement, going ahead without You. Immediately the wind picked up speed and the waters became turbulent and rough. The boat was tossed around. The bad weather continued to dog them as they sailed and suddenly they saw You Beloved, the Master of the sea and the wind, walking on the water. What a marvelous sight it must have been. You reassured them that it was You and there was not need to be frightened. You were with them. Before they could act upon their desire to invite You into the boat, they had already reached the shore that they were heading for.
Beloved, it is always better to wait for You rather than to proceed according to our own whims and fancies. When we act without You we can expect to be tossed around in turbulent weather brought about by our own stupidity. With You we will reach our destination safely and quickly.
Remain with me and mine always my Lord.
Psalm 33:4, 19
4 For upright is the Lord’s word
and worthy of trust is his work.
18 But the Lord’s eyes are upon those who fear him,
upon those who trust in his loving-kindness.
