2 Corinthians 4:16-18
16 Therefore we are not discouraged. On the contrary, while our outer being wastes away, the inner self is renewed from day to day. 17 The slight affliction that quickly passes away prepares us for an eternal wealth of glory so great and beyond all comparison. 18 So we no longer pay attention to the things that are seen, but to those that are unseen, for the things that we see last for a moment, but that which cannot be seen is eternal.
Beloved, I was just thinking of our Sandy girl and how she was wasting away with the dreaded illness of cancer during this time last year. The memories are so vivid and painful when I remember the agony that she suffered. Thank You for these beautiful verses. They restored my faith and my hope. Life on earth lasts but a moment with all its joys and sorrows. Life with you in heaven is eternal bliss.
Isaiah 58:7-10
Beloved, we are called to live in communion not in isolation. My brothers needs must find a response in me. Often we feel overwhelmed by the weight of misery and want in the world. I may not have the ability to do much but grant me the grace to do all I can. shine on us but on You
1 Corinthians 2:1-5
Beloved, when we offer our services to labor in Your vineyard it will do us well to remember that we do not do so to show of our skills, whatever they may be. The light must not shine on us but on You. When we offer our services, although we are uncertain and afraid, not sure what to say, all we need to do is rely on Your Spirit to give meaning and power to what we do and say.
Matthew 5:13-16
Everything I say and do must rebound to Your glory. All that You have so generously blessed me with I must share with others. My light no matter how small must help to light the path of another especially those less fortunate than myself. I am duty bound to nurture the gifts You have given me and use them for the work entrusted to me. My eyes must be ever on You my Beloved, if my gaze is on You I will not rely on my own puny strength. I will sink if I take my eyes from You.
Psalm 112:4-9
4 He is for the righteous a light in darkness,
he is kind, merciful and upright.
5 It will be well with him who lends freely,
who leads a life of justice and honesty.
6 For the righteous will never be moved;
he will be remembered and loved forever.
7 He has no fear of evil news,
for his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.
8 His heart is confident, he needs not fear,
he shall prevail over his foes at the end.
9 He gives generously to the poor,
his merits will last forever
and his head will be raised in honor.
