Daily Meditation:  Deuteronomy 32:10-13

Deuteronomy 32:10-13

10 In the wilderness he found them,

in a barren, howling wasteland;

he shielded them and cared for them

as the apple of his eye.

11 Like an eagle watching its nest,

hovering over its young,

supporting them on its spread wings

and carrying them on its pinions,

12 the Lord alone led them,

without the aid of a foreign god.

13 He made them ride on the heights

and live on the produce of the earth.

He gave them honey to suck from the rock,

olive oil from the hard stony crag.

My beloved, You took me from the wilderness of my emptiness I could do nothing for myself because I had no resources of my own to draw from. You saw this creature You had created and had pity on me.   Your heart moved with compassion for You saw that I was doomed to die.  I had nothing save my sins, my weaknesses, my loss and finally my grief and I had nowhere to turn to.  I called Your Name and You came to me.  You lifted me up and lay me on Your breast.  You wiped my tears.  You comforted me and assured me of Your unending love.  With the oil of Your mercy You cleansed and healed me of all that defiled me. You filled the emptiness with the sweetness and fullness of Yourself.  You did not abandon me but continued to protect and strengthen me through Your Word, the Sacraments and the people You sent to witness how powerfully You were at work in their lives.  You wanted me to know that I could experience the same joy and peace.  You continue to fill my mouth with the finest wheat of Your Word and You fill my mouth with honey from the honeycomb when I receive Your Body in the Holy Eucharist.

In You I am renewed and I soar to the highest heavens on the wings of the Holy Spirit.  You have vowed never to let go of me and I rejoice all day long in Your Presence.

1 Kings 3:4, 7-12

"Ask Me what you want Me to give you."

My Beloved, I ask for a heart that will love you without counting the cost just as You have loved me.  I ask to be able to share this love with everyone I encounter through the course of my life.  I ask for kindness and simplicity of spirit.  I ask for humility and obedience to do Your will no matter what it is that You ask of me.  I ask that You give me confidence in the knowledge of who I am, an adopted daughter of God the Father, since I am grafted to You in Baptism and I am a member of Your Body the Church, which is Your Bride.  This ensures that I am always in union with You.  Grant that I may live all the days of my life in the shadow of Your love.  Should I sin, have pity and grant me the the grace to repent quickly and return to your embrace or I shall wither and die.

 

Romans 8:28-30

My Beloved, what absolutely wonderful promises are made in these verses.  Here is truth that every one would do well to remember.  In ALL THINGS, in every situation in our life,  in sickness and health, poverty and riches, life and death, turmoil and calm, You work for the good of those who love You.  We have no reason to be afraid.  You have known me in eternity and  it has been the Father's plan to save me through You His First Born Son; so we could be a family, brothers and sisters united in love with You.  We are made righteous through Your saving work and we are destined to have a share in Your glory as our Brother, one with the Father and the Holy Spirit for all eternity.  WOW!!!!!

Matthew 13:44-52

Beloved, You are the treasure in the wide field of the world.  You, the Eternal Word are the priceless pearl in the midst of the 10,001 different ideologies and faiths of varying kinds that masquerade as truth although they may possess only fragments of it.  There are old and tired philosophies that pose as new and those who are ignorant of history are condemned to repeat past mistakes over and over again.  Each new pop culture fizzles out when its lie is exposed and they leave behind only frustration, disappointment, dismay and often despair.  

The world is well lost once we have found You who are our Treasure, our Priceless Pearl.  Nothing compares with having You.  Neither riches, nor power, nor fame, nor wealth, neither friendships, nor worldly accolades.  All these become meaningless, mere dust and ashes for in having You we possesses all things.  

Thank You for reminding me that the Church has in her vault of treasures, in her Liturgy, in her Teachings, in the rich deposit of faith, a legacy left behind by You through the Apostles, through their successors to the present time and this will continue until You come again in glory as You have promised.  The gates of hell shall not prevail against Your Bride, the Church.  The witness and testimony of our triumphant brothers and sisters who are now united with You in heaven, have left an undying legacy of the faith for which many laid down their lives.  We have things both old and new that make up the rich and varied tapestry that helps us draw ever closer to You in this and in every age.  Thank You.

Psalm 119:57, 72, 76-77, 128, 130

57 You are my portion, O Lord; I have promised to obey your word.

72 Your law is more precious to me than heaps of silver and gold.

76 Comfort me then with your unfailing love, as you promised your servant.

77 Let your mercy come to give me life, for your law is my delight.

128 Because my steps are guided by your precepts, I hate all false ways. 129 Wonderful are your decrees; my soul cannot but keep them.

130 As your words unfold, light is shed, and the simple-hearted un­derstand.

Deuteronomy 32:4, 39

4 He is the Rock,

and perfect are all his works,

just are all his ways.

A faithful God he is,

upright and just and unerring.

39 Learn this now – that I alone am He; there is no god besides me.

It is I who give both death and life;

it is I who wound and heal as well

and out of my hand no one can deliver.

In both these verses my Beloved, I read of two descriptions of You.  One is that You are just, perfect, faithful, unerring in Your judgements.  And the other tells me that You alone are God there is no other.  From You comes both life and death.  You strike and You heal and no one can take anything that belongs to You.  If we understand who You truly are Beloved, we need fear nothing, for everything that You give us whether pain or sorrow, heart break or loss, You are also the Giver of abundance.  When we are open and yielding to Your will, we have peace in the midst of distress, and plenty in the midst of hunger.  We experience joy in all circumstances when we accept and believe that everything we receive comes from You and has a purpose.  You are not capricious but loving and trustworthy.  Thank You.

Exodus 24:3-8

Beloved, You sealed Your Covenant in the Old Testament with the blood of bullocks offered by the young sons of the men of Israel.  In the New Covenant the First Born Son of the Loving God seals us in His own precious Blood.  We are purchased with the Blood of the Lamb - we are made whiter are purified, sanctified and made whiter than snow.  Thank You my Lord for this Covenant sealed in Your Blood, which makes us children of the Most High God, through the power of Your Most Holy Spirit.

Matthew 13:24-30 

Beloved, You are the Seed, the Eternal Word that has been sown in our hearts at Baptism and You continue to sow Your seed as we grow and mature in the Spirit, through  grace channelled to our souls, through the Sacraments.  But we live in a world that is full of temptation and we are weak with the sin of our first parents so we are prone to the sins of the flesh. The work of the evil one is to deceive us into accepting and believing the philosophy of the world, calling good evil and evil good.  A constant battle is being waged on us.  If we are not watchful, if we are not in the habit of  receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist which heal, cleanse, and strengthen.  We will be in danger of being cut down like darnell and thrown into the eternal flames that neither consume nor destroy but burns without ever going out.  May we always walk in the shadow of Your Love and Presence.

Psalm 50:1-2, 5-6, 14

1 The God of gods, the Lord has spoken,

he summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.

2 God has shone from Zion, perfect in beauty.

5 “Gather before me my faithful ones,

who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.”

6 The heavens will proclaim his sentence,

for God himself is the judge.

15 Call on me in time of calamity;

I will deliver you, and you will glorify me.”
