Amos 7:10-17, Psalm 19:8-11, Matthew 9:1-8

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ
and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 2 Cor 5:19

Amos 7:10-17, Psalm 19:8-11, Matthew 9:1-8

Amos 7:10-17

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

Those who speak the truth to those who do not wish to hear it are almost never welcome. The kind of rejection they receive is in direct proportion to the greatness of the sin, the depths of the wickedness and the truth that endeavors to reveals it.

Prophets have always been persecuted especially when they preach what their hearers have no wish of knowing. Sinners will give their sins all kinds of names in order to make hide the true nature of sin.

So it is with the prophet Amos who was sent by God with a mission. To uncover the sins of the king, the people of Israel, and call them to conversion and repentance.  All he got for his trouble is persecution, rejection, and threats to his life.

So it is with all who seek to expose the lies that the Father of Lies spins to deceive an ignorant world who deliberately choose ignorance over the Truth. The world would rather commit every kind of sin to hide their wickedness rather than to end their wicked ways.

The world preferred to crucify the Truth, the world did, and the world continues to do.

Help us not to be fainthearted Beloved but to be willing to speak the Truth whether or not it will be agreeable to our listeners or not. The Truth will reject all those who rejected it at the time of the great reckoning.

Psalm 19:8-11

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

The Law of Lord is the Law of Love and this is why God's Law is perfect, it gives life, and can be trusted by both the wise and the simple.  Your Name is Truth and this is why we obey God's Law for it is Truth anything less than the truth is a lie, it is deceit, it is a coverup, it is denial, and there is only death in lies.

The world peddles lies. It makes a living from lies. The world desires to make a god of self and selfish desires and the result is chaos, sorrow, sickness, and death.

You are God's Word spoken once it contains everything within it all that God is. We live because it is this Word of Life and Love that sustains all that lives.

Matthew 9:1-8

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

The crowd knew that only God could forgive sins and when You said to the paralytic, your sins are forgiven the crowd gasped in astonishment for they believed that You had said something that was not within the power of ordinary human beings. True, only God has that power.

You read their thoughts and challenged them saying:

"Why do you harbor evil thoughts?
Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,'
or to say, 'Rise and walk'?"

Both are impossible for mere humans but not for the Son of Man to whom all authority and power has been given in heaven, on earth, and everywhere.

The crowds soon discovered this and were struck with awe and glorified God for they knew that only God had the power to heal and if God is able to heal God is definitely able to forgive.

The Father willed to give us birth by the word of truth
that we may be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. Jas  1:18

Matthew 8:28-34

Amos 5:14-15, 21-24

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

Today the prophet says that I may claim that God is with me but if I do not actively seek to do good then it will not be true. God will truly be with me when I walk with integrity. You want no part of a heart divided. I must be ready to give You all and when I do everything else will find its rightful place in my life.

My prayers, my fastings, my sacrifices are all meaningless if I walk in the way of the world rather than in the Way of the Lord.
