ST. SCHOLASTICA, VIRGIN, ON MONDAY OF WEEK 5 IN ORDINARY TIME - 2025

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Jesus proclaimed the Good News of the kingdom
and cured all kinds of sickness among the people. MT 4:23

GENESIS 1:1-19

My Soul's Beloved,

At the dawn of creation, before anything ever was, the Spirit of God hovered over the great and formless void that was the earth and God spoke a Word, the Eternal Word, His only Word, and by the power of that Word He said,  ‘Let there be light’, and there was light. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit designed the world and all in it and the crown of this creation is woman and man. God created the whole world and lovingly ensured we would have everything necessary to sustain life on earth. Light and darkness, land and water, sun, moon, stars, night and day, and a great variety of food for nourishment. Then God created man and from his rib, woman - Adam and Eve. God did not need us but He did so because He delighted in creating us and the world He created for our delight.

This is the earth that God created for us and put us in charge of it. This is the earth that You came into as an infant through Mary's virginal womb, this is the earth that You walked on, and this is the earth that is consecrated to God for all time because Your Blood was spilled on it as an eternal and everlasting sacrifice making it holy and pleasing to God. It is for us that God created the earth and it is for us that God sent a Savior into it and it is here, to this earth that the Lord, the King of Kings, will return in glory just as He ascended from it.

Grant us this grace O Lord to care for the earth for those who come after us. May we be good stewards ensuring that when we leave this earth we leave it beautiful and life-sustaining for future generations. This is the earth created for us and given to us and no other.  Let us care for it and for one another. This world can become the Garden of Eden if we live the Gospel, preach the Gospel, and teach the Gospel so all may believe and worship God in spirit and in truth, then the Kingdom of God will come in our midst and You will hasten Your return again in glory and majesty and there will be a new heaven and a new earth.

PSALM 103(104):1-2,5-6,10,12,24,35

May the Lord rejoice in his works!

Bless the Lord, my soul!
Lord God, how great you are,
clothed in majesty and glory,
wrapped in light as in a robe!

You founded the earth on its base,
to stand firm from age to age.
You wrapped it with the ocean like a cloak:
the waters stood higher than the mountains.

You make springs gush forth in the valleys;
they flow in between the hills.
On their banks dwell the birds of heaven;
from the branches they sing their song.

How many are your works, O Lord!
In wisdom you have made them all.
The earth is full of your riches.
Bless the Lord, my soul!

May the Lord rejoice in his works!

MARK 6:53-56
