OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY, ON MONDAY OF WEEK 27 IN ORDINARY TIME - 2024

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee!
Blessed art thou among women. LK 1:28

ACTS 1:12-14

My Soul's Beloved,

What was the mood of the disciples as they walked back from the Mount of Olives to the upper room? They had just witnessed You ascending into heaven awestruck. They kept their gaze heavenwards after You were no longer in sight and angels had to remind them that You would return in the same way that You ascended. In the meantime they had a mission to carry out, to complete but not before the Holy Spirit descended on them and inaugurated Your Church. Did they walk back in groups talking excitedly or were some walking back in silence? Was it all too much to take in at once?

They gathered in the upper room where they lodged - the Eleven with Mother Mary, some women, and Your cousins- and began to pray as You instructed them. They prayed continuously and ardently for nine days for the coming of the Holy Spirit that You promised to send. The Father sent You and You assured them that You would ask Your Father and He would send You the Helper, the Holy Spirit, and once He came upon them the age of the Holy Spirit would commence.

After Jesus was taken up into heaven the apostles went back from the Mount of Olives, as it is called, to Jerusalem, a short distance away, no more than a sabbath walk; and when they reached the city they went to the upper room where they were staying; there were Peter and John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Jude son of James. All these joined in continuous prayer, together with several women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

LUKE 1:46-55

Blessed is the Virgin Mary, who bore the Son of the eternal Father.

My soul glorifies the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God, my Saviour.

He looks on his servant in her nothingness;
henceforth all ages will call me blessed.
The Almighty works marvels for me.
  Holy his name!
His mercy is from age to age,
on those who fear him.
He puts forth his arm in strength
and scatters the proud-hearted.

He casts the mighty from their thrones
and raises the lowly.
He fills the starving with good things,
sends the rich away empty.

He protects Israel, his servant,
remembering his mercy,
the mercy promised to our fathers,
to Abraham and his sons forever.

Blessed is the Virgin Mary, who bore the Son of the eternal Father.

LUKE 1:26-38
