MONDAY OF WEEK 10 IN ORDINARY TIME - 2024

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Rejoice and be glad:
your reward will be great in heaven. MT 5:12A

1 KINGS 17:1-6

My Soul’s Beloved,

I know My Lord, that I can trust You and that You are worthy of trust. Never has it been known My Lord that anyone who called on You was not heard and has not had You come speedily to their aid. Often, Beloved, we do not receive what we ask for because the time is not right, or because what we ask for is not good for us, or You have prepared something far better than we can ever hope for or imagine.

There will be times of drought, or famine in every life. It is necessary for it is during these testing times that our heavenly Father prunes us so we can grow healthy, and bear good fruit that will last. At Your command, O Lord, Elijah ordered that neither dew nor rain would fall in Israel for years except at Your order. It is You who order plenty and want, sorrow and joy, healing will come when You ordain it. You will feed us, You will give us drink. In the Eucharist O Lord, You become our food and our drink.

Thank You, Lord. I shall stop whining and complaining and I will rest in Your Sacred Heart as a weaned child on its mother’s breast.

The ravens brought him bread in the morning and meat in the evening, and he quenched his thirst at the stream.

PSALM 120(121)

I lift up my eyes to the mountains;
from where shall come my help?
My help shall come from the Lord
who made heaven and earth.

May he never allow you to stumble!
Let him sleep not, your guard.
No, he sleeps not nor slumbers,
Israel’s guard.

The Lord is your guard and your shade;
at your right side he stands.
By day the sun shall not smite you
nor the moon in the night.

The Lord will guard you from evil,
he will guard your soul.
The Lord will guard your going and coming
both now and forever.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

MATTHEW 5:1-12

My Soul’s Beloved,

The Beatitudes are a blueprint enabling us to walk in safety as we make our pilgrim journey from this life to the life that awaits all who are called by Your Name.

Today’s Gospel reading begins with the words: ‘Seeing the crowds’ - You saw the crowds. Even if we are a multitude, Beloved, You see us and You take us up to the Mountain of the Lord with You. Away from the noise, the clutter, the distractions of the world and You sit down among us, joined by Your disciples. Hear in the New Jerusalem the City of God, Holy Mother Church, You teach us how to live as children of the Most High. We, who are grafted to Your Body, having Your Spirit flowing through us and giving us life, are taught by You. We are fed on Your Word in Spirit and in Truth. The rich heritage that is kept safe in the Sacred Treasury and in the Sacred Memory of Your Bride, we receive as it was handed down from You to Your Apostles, to their successors in an unbroken line, and so it will be until You return again in glory.

Your lived the Beatitudes, Beloved, Mother Mary lived them and so did the Apostles and all the saints. No matter how imperfectly, we Your sinful sisters and brother do, Lord, You will assist us to make the Beatitudes the rule of our life.

‘How happy are the poor in spirit;
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Happy the gentle:
they shall have the earth for their heritage.
Happy those who mourn:
they shall be comforted.
Happy those who hunger and thirst for what is right:
they shall be satisfied.
Happy the merciful:
they shall have mercy shown them.
Happy the pure in heart:
they shall see God.
Happy the peacemakers:
they shall be called sons of God.
Happy those who are persecuted in the cause of right:
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

‘Happy are you when people abuse you and persecute you and speak all kinds of calumny against you on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven: this is how they persecuted the prophets before you.’
