WEDNESDAY OF THE 5TH WEEK OF EASTERTIDE - 2024

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Make your home in me, as I make mine in you,
says the Lord;
whoever remains in me bears fruit in plenty. JN 15:4, 5

ACTS 15:1-6 ©

My Soul's Beloved,

So often You want to do something new, something wonderful and this requires us to set aside permanently the old ways of thinking and doing things no matter how good. We must give the Holy Spirit the freedom to act as He wills only then will God's purpose and plan be accomplished. When we put God in a box, as the Pharisees who had become believers wanted to do, we restrict Him from breathing new life in us whether it is in the church or among the members of the various groups in the parish.

People who stubbornly insist on doing things simply because it is the way things have always been done, risk putting the entire purpose of the good work, in this case, the welcoming of the Gentiles, without putting unnecessary burdens on them. Beloved, we thank You for instituting the hierarchy in the Church, the Magisterium, where Bishops with Peter as the head decide what they will bind and loose. Thank You that the members of Your Body can trust whatever they decide since You have not only given them the authority to do so but have assured her that You will be with her always and that the gates of hell will never prevail against her. In all matters concerning faith and morals, she will never err.

PSALM 121(122):1-5 ©

I rejoiced when I heard them say:
‘Let us go to God’s house.’
And now our feet are standing
within your gates, O Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is built as a city
strongly compact.
It is there that the tribes go up,
the tribes of the Lord.

For Israel’s law it is,
there to praise the Lord’s name.
There were set the thrones of judgement
of the house of David.

I rejoiced when I heard them say: ‘Let us go to God’s house.’
