WEDNESDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT - 2023

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Look, the Lord will come to save his people.
Blessed those who are ready to meet him.

ISAIAH 25:6-10 ©

My Soul's Beloved,

Only God could make something wondrously beautiful and powerful of Calvary. Only God can use the most horrific act of evil deliberately and purposefully carried out to its barbaric conclusion and draw from it something profoundly good for the very ones who colluded to commit the atrocities. The goal of diabolical evil is to expunge all that is true, good, and beautiful but thanks be to God in You, Beloved, that goal of Satan can never and will never be realized. Evil did its best on Golgotha to triumph over life and was roundly defeated by the empty tomb and the Resurrection when Life triumphed over death.

Thank You, Lord, for establishing Your Church on the Mountain of the Lord. Thank You for providing us a banquet of rich food and the finest wines by giving us Your Flesh as food and Your Blood as drink welling up to eternal life in all who partake of this heavenly manna worthily.

Thank You for taking away our shame in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We can fall any number of times a day but You never reject those who truly repent and are contrite of heart. Thank You for sending us Your Holy Spirit who enables us to strive to be holy and perfect as our Father is holy and perfect. Thank You for understanding that we are weak and frail. You are always pleased with our feeble efforts to be faithful and for never tiring of starting over. You ask us never to lose heart but to have faith and trust You for You will provide all the graces we need to persevere to the end.

We long for the day of Your glorious return Beloved when You will receive all things to Yourself and we will rejoice eternally when we behold You face to face forever.

The Lord will wipe away
the tears from every cheek;
he will take away his people’s shame
everywhere on earth,
for the Lord has said so.
That day, it will be said: See, this is our God
in whom we hoped for salvation;
the Lord is the one in whom we hoped.
We exult and we rejoice
that he has saved us;
for the hand of the Lord
rests on this mountain.

PSALM 22(23) ©

The Lord is my shepherd;
there is nothing I shall want.
Fresh and green are the pastures
where he gives me repose.
Near restful waters he leads me,
to revive my drooping spirit.

He guides me along the right path;
he is true to his name.
If I should walk in the valley of darkness
no evil would I fear.
You are there with your crook and your staff;
with these you give me comfort.

You have prepared a banquet for me
in the sight of my foes.
My head you have anointed with oil;
my cup is overflowing.

Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me
all the days of my life.
In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell
for ever and ever.

In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell for ever and ever.

My Soul's Beloved,

We know the power of the Gospel and the healing power of the Sacraments, the life-giving power of the Holy Eucharist. You have given Your Church Your power and Your Spirit and assured her that she would do all that You did and even greater things since You are now with Your Father.

Thank You, Lord, for keeping Your Word. We believe O Lord that in this Church that You founded we are already in the Kingdom of God for it is here that the whole world is invited and clothed in the wedding garment at Baptism. Here we are all children of the Father, You are our Brother, we are united in love with the Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit and we are made one with God.

Here we receive healing in every way that we need it - heart, mind, soul, body, and spirit. We are made new in You and we receive life-giving grace in the Sacraments. We receive food for the journey so we will not fall faint by the wayside but our strength is renewed by it and we rise again on eagles' wings. Thank You, Lord, for keeping Your promise to us to abide with us till the end of time and Your assurance that the gates of hell shall never prevail against Your Church.
