SATURDAY OF THE FIRST WEEK OF LENT - 2022

LENT 2022

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Now is the favourable time:
this is the day of salvation. 2 COR 6:2

DEUTERONOMY 26:16-19 ©

My Soul's Beloved,

Through Moses God assured His covenant people that they would be His if they kept all the laws and customs as He commanded them to. In a barbaric, uncivilized age God chose one man Abraham and from his descendants came Moses and the prophets through whom He began to reveal Himself, teaching and forming a people who were to be different from the rest of the nations because they knew God.

In the fullness of time, God sent You, His only Son into the world to this chosen nation and people but they rejected You. Through their rejection, the rest of the nations received the Good News of salvation and in believing it we are saved.

The promises once made to Abraham and his descendants is now extended to the whole world. We, who are called by Your Name, are to be Your witnesses to the ends of the earth and until the end of the age.

The declaration made by God through Moses is fulfilled in the Church You founded on Peter. We, who are covered by the Blood of the Lamb, who eat Your Flesh and drink Your Blood and receive Your Life, are members of Your Body. It is Church that stands firmly on Truth. She is admired for her stance on all matters concerning faith and morals for she has received the commandments from You, all her teachings come from You, and are handed down just as they were received through the successors of Peter. She will never waver even though the whole world reviles her, persecutes her, and condemns her.

She is the light set high on the city for the fullness of Truth abides in her and You have consecrated all who abide in her to be Your own.

My Soul's Beloved,

The Church will not only survive but will thrive until Your glorious Second Coming because You have assured her that the gates of hell will never prevail against her.

Through the ages and to the present day, holy men and women, too numerous to count beginning with the Apostles, laid down their lives gladly and joyfully for the sake of the Gospel.

It is scandalous that a vast number of baptized Catholic Christians are abysmally ignorant of what the Church teaches and why. Placing blame is easy but are we ready to do something about it? Are we ready to rise up to the challenge before us? We cannot rely entirely on the hierarchy for they can only do so much it is up to the faithful to work in concert with the Church and to do all we can to make known, to teach, to live, to witness, to the truths and the doctrines of our faith.

We know the Way, You are the Way, You walked the Way, You taught the Way, let us embrace it and live it.

.... love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you; in this way you will be sons of your Father in heaven, for he causes his sun to rise on bad men as well as good, and his rain to fall on honest and dishonest men alike. For if you love those who love you, what right have you to claim any credit? Even the tax collectors do as much, do they not? And if you save your greetings for your brothers, are you doing anything exceptional? Even the pagans do as much, do they not? You must therefore be perfect just as your heavenly Father is perfect.’
