SOLEMNITY OF ST. JOSEPH, HUSBAND OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY - 2021

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

They are happy who dwell in your house, O Lord,
forever singing your praise. PS 83:5

2 SAMUEL 7:4-5,12-14,16 ©

My Soul's Beloved,

God makes eternal and timeless plans, all His promises made to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and David, were fulfilled, not in their lifetime but long, long after they died.

The angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and addressed him as, 'Son of David.' He may not have been born in the palaces of kings nevertheless he came from the royal line of David. Of all the descendants of David, Joseph was the one chosen to be Your spiritual and foster father and the most chaste spouse of the Queen of Heaven, Mary, Your Mother.

You are the true Son of David, born of Mary, in the home of Nazareth where Joseph was the head of the household from the line of David.

In You, God's final Covenant was established between Him and all who believe in You.

The Kingdom of God is among us. Your sovereignty in heaven and on earth is eternal. God chose to be born in obscurity and humility and God chose His Mother and the man who would, for a while, be his foster dad. Of all the men He could have chosen, it was on Joseph that God's favor rested.

Your House and your sovereignty will always stand secure before me and your throne be established forever.

My Soul's Beloved,

When God's favor rests on those whom He has chosen they will be blessed forever - just as Abraham, and David were.

I only have to look back at my past and see how faithful You have always been to all Your promises. You have been with Me through all the events in my life both great and small, difficult and easy, joyful and sorrowful, through all my fears and anxieties You have been at my side and You have seen me through it all. You are a faithful God and I will sing of Your goodness, mercy, and love as long as there is breath in my body.

Thank You, Father, for the eternal covenant You have made with us in Your beloved Son, Jesus. It is an everlasting covenant and it is one that will see us safely from this life of peril, danger, and trouble to the blissful life in the Kingdom of God.

Thank You, Jesus, for teaching us to call Your Father our Father, we especially wish to thank You today for sharing with us all that is Yours which includes Your Mama and St. Joseph Your spiritual father.

‘He will say to me: “You are my father,
my God, the rock who saves me.”
I will keep my love for him always;
with him my covenant shall last.’

My Soul's Beloved,

Faith alone saves. Faith is the eternal currency through which God fulfills all His awesome promises.  Without faith, it is impossible to please You.

It is precisely when we cannot see, cannot hear, cannot feel, that we stand firm in faith knowing that God keeps His Word despite the adverse circumstances around us. Nothing is more pleasing to God than when we believe in You and in Your Word when the night is darkest.

God has kept His covenant with Abraham, we are counted among his descendants which are as innumerable as the stars in the heaven and the grains of sand on the shore.

All anyone ever needs to receive all of God's wonderful promises is to first believe in You and Your Word. Abraham was a hundred years old and Sara ninety when she conceived and bore Isaac. Nothing is impossible with God. He brings the dead to life and calls into being what does not exist.

If we hold on tenaciously to faith in the face of all the odds God will reward us in ways we cannot even begin to imagine. There is no one like You, O Lord.

My Soul's Beloved,

This is a special year, this is an extraordinary year of God's favor - this is the year dedicated to the most sublime of all earthly men, husbands, and fathers - the silent, wordless St. Joseph, whose heart was so full with joy, thanksgiving, and gratitude, it could not be articulated in human words.

He was in a state of perpetual awe as he gazed at Mary and Jesus and his heart overflowed with love beyond all expression. Asleep or awake, he was the sentinel that stood in all readiness and was at God's command ready to make haste and do all that needed to be done to watch over and keep safe the two who were dearest and closest to God's heart and his - Jesus and Mary.

Scripture tells us that Joseph was a man of honor, a man who was righteous before God, a man chosen by God, a man of God. Angels hovered over him and spoke to him in dreams making known to Him God's divine plans. He was a man who walked without fear before God in faith, humility, docility, and obedience. He gladly set aside his own dreams, plans, and hopes and embraced those that God had dreamed and planned for him. This plan was so much greater, so much more sublime, and far more rewarding than his own were.

‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save his people from their sins.’ When Joseph woke up he did what the angel of the Lord had told him to do.

Dear St. Joseph, intercede for us and obtain for us the grace to gladly set aside our dreams, hopes, and plans and embrace all that God wills and desires for us always.
