WEDNESDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OF ADVENT - 2020

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Look, the Lord will come to save his people.
Blessed those who are ready to meet him.

ISAIAH 40:25-31

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

In a world that is increasingly darkened by the evil deeds of the ruthless, the helpless often lose heart. Thank You for the powerful words of the prophet assuring and encouraging us that we are not alone.  You do battle on our behalf and we need fear nothing for our God is with us.

You are the God of creation - at Your Word all that is came into being. You created the heavens and the earth and all answer when You call. What have those who are called by Your Name have to fear when Your tells us never lose hope for You, our God, never tire of doing good. You never tire of loving us no matter how willfully disobedient we may be, like little children.

You created us and You know us better than we can ever know ourselves. You know what we need and You give us only that which is good and profitable for us. You are a God who loves us more tenderly than a mother, and more protectively than any father, who will never abandon us. Because You give us to eat and drink of Your Body and Blood in the Eucharist, we can soar high on the wings of an eagle and never falter or grow weary, for You Yourself are our strength. Thank You for Your everlasting covenant of love with us. Thank You for You love that never fails us.

PSALM 103:1-4, 8, 10

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

The surest way to possessing the peace that the world cannot give is to have a grateful heart that never runs out of praise and thanksgiving for all the blessing You shower on us.

No one can live a joyous life if they are laden with the burden of guilt and sin this is why You instituted the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Your tender mercy and compassion heals our wounds. Every transgression against the love of God and neighbor finds forgiveness when we draw near to You in sorrow, contrition, and repentance in this awesome Sacrament of healing.

The penitent prodigal son and daughter who returns after wandering far from home will always find the Father waiting for their return and seeing them in the distance, runs out to meet them, embrace them, and celebrates their return for He does not treat us according to our sins nor repay us according to our faults.

MATTHEW 11:28-30

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

The key to a life of blissful union with You in this life is humility, obedience, and joyful submission to Your will in all things.

Pride is anathema to God, it is the first of the seven deadly sins and is the harbinger of spiritual death.

In today's brief Gospel passage You invite us to deny our evil inclinations, the lure of the senses, the enticements of the world, and the lies of satan and instead hear and respond to Your gentle invitation which is extended to all who desire to live a life of true and intimate fellowship with God:

‘Come to me, all you who labor and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.’

The beloved will always find every demand of the divine Lover delightfully sweet, easy, and light.
