DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
If then you were raised with Christ,
seek what is above,
where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. COL 3:1
ACTS 16:1-10
My Beloved, Soul of my soul,
Once again we are reminded of the unity in the teaching and doctrine of Holy Mother Church. As Paul and his companions travelled from city to city preaching the Good News they handed down to the people the observance and decisions reached by the Apostles and the presbyters in Jerusalem. The same teaching authority of the Church continues to do this and will do so until You return. We believe and we obey what the Church teaches us in all matters concerning faith and morals.
The Holy Spirit that descended on the Apostles and disciples at Pentecost continues to animate Your Church and give her life - Your Life. If we, her members, are docile to the Holy Spirit we too will live lives filled with grace.
PSALM 100:1B-3, 5
My Beloved, Soul of my soul,
The Good News is that we are saved, yet, we are so easily discouraged, so easily anxious, fearful, dispirited, joyless, and restless. Anything and everything has the power to disturb us and rob us of the peace that You came to give us. When will we learn to cease our grumblings, our murmurings, our dissatisfaction with everything and believe, and have confidence in Your Word? Over and over again You say, "Be not afraid for I AM with you always even to the end of the age."
As long as we lack a childlike faith in You we will be restless and unhappy, for it is only in You that we find peace and safe harbour.
JOHN 15:18-21
My Beloved, Soul of my soul,
It would seem, that never since the foundations of the earth, has the world been so divided. Nations, as well as people of different faiths, beliefs, cultures, races, and ideologies, are viciously divided against each other.
These days there is a distinct lack of charity even among the members of the Church. There are too few of the kind of disciples You formed. If we were truly Your disciples the world would look at us and say, "See how they love one another." We lack a childlike trust and confidence in You and Your Word. We are constantly muttering, grumbling, and bickering among ourselves about our shepherds instead of just trusting the Holy Spirit to guide the Church through the storms as He always has and always will. Let us just be still, pray, hope, and believe? We are after all the sheep of Your flock.
