FRIDAY OF THE FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER - 2020

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

I am the way and the truth and the life, says the Lord;
no one comes to the Father except through me. JN 14:6

ACTS 13:26-33

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

Paul evangelizes his fellow Jews by reminding them of all the promises God made to them through the patriarchs and prophets beginning with Abraham and that every one of those prophecies finds their fulfillment in You.

An innocent Man, sent by God, was made to suffer and was crucified to death on the Cross. He was buried and just as He said He would, He rose again after three days and appeared to many people beginning with Your disciples. These witnesses now testify to the truth that You are indeed the Son of God and by Your Sacrifice brought back the children of God who had gone astray due to the sin of Adam. This is the Good News that every disciple is called to preach and teach for this is the Good News that saves.

PSALM 2:6-11

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

We were created for one thing, and one thing alone, to know God, to love Him, to serve Him, and to be gloriously happy with Him not only in this life but in the life to come, the life that You won for us on the Cross.

You completed the work of salvation in obedience to the Father's plan and He has given You all the nations as Your inheritance. To You is given all authority, all power, all dominion, and Your rule is absolute and for all time. You may do with us as You will. We rise or fall at Your command.

You are the Kings of kings and Lord of lords and You have established Your Temple on Mt. Zion where Your people go to worship You. It is in this holy Temple that You deign to live hidden yet accessible to all who desire You. You invite us to know You, to love You, and to serve You and having drawn us to communion with You we tremble with joy, awe, and wonder for so gracious a God.

JOHN 14:1-6

My Beloved, Soul of my soul,

These beautiful, soul-stirring promises You make to Your disciples You make to each one of us who are called by Your Name. To us today who are living in uncertain times You say with great tenderness just as You said to them:

“Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You have faith in God; have faith also in me.
In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.
If there were not,
would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come back again and take you to myself,
so that where I am you also may be.
Where I am going you know the way.”

Beloved, what does it matter if our journey on earth is one that is long or short our final destination is You.

We are not orphans but children of God. You taught us to call Him Abba and have shown us the Way to the Kingdom where You have prepared a place for us.

May Your words that no one comes to the Father except through You enable us to pray with greater urgency for those who have grown lukewarm and indifferent especially those in our own family so that someday, where You are, we all may be.
