Ezekiel 37:21-28

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

No one can be holy without the help of the Holy Spirit. Today the Father speaking through the mouth of the prophet Ezekiel speaks in the Old Testament about what He will do for the People of the Kingdom. Unless we know the New Testament we will not understand the promises, the assurances, the Eternal Covenant that God assures the people of Israel that He is making with them. In fact God is looking far ahead in time at the new David, the new King of the New Jerusalem, the Prince of Peace, the Good Shepherd. Every one of the prophecies will come to pass in You.

You have gathered all people from all nations of every race, color, language, and culture and You have united us in Your Body with You at its Head. The Church is the New Jerusalem established for all eternity. You have made Your Sanctuary not only in all the tabernacles of the world but more importantly within our hearts when You come to us in the Holy Eucharist.

How blessed I am my soul's beloved to count myself among those that are called by Your Name. Grant me this grace to carry out the mission entrusted to me to witness to the Good News so that all may come to believe in the One whom the Father sent and be saved.

Jeremiah 31:10-13

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

You said, As Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,  so that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.  We who were once scattered and divided by every kind of division imaginable are now brought together through faith in the One whom the Father sent. The power of Your Holy Spirit indwelling in us makes it possible for us to know the Truth and live a life of faith. Yet the work of unity is not yet accomplished. You have invited us to work with You  to bring in the harvest.

The Good News of our salvation is this, "God so loved the world that he sent his only Son, so that whoever believes in Him, Yes, God so loved the world that he gave his only Son that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but may have eternal life.

You are the Good Shepherd who gathers together the sheep as one flock. You watch over us, You feed us, You strengthen us, You lead us to green pasture and to streams of clear water. You keep us alive in the Holy Spirit. You sought us when we strayed and found us. You keep the Enemy away from us, and You gave us Your life for us in order to ensure that we can no longer be stolen from God, our Father. You paid the ransom that set us free forever. You lead us to Your Holy Mountain, the place where You have made Your dwelling and there the faithful who are called by Your Name offer to the Father the one, holy, and perfect Sacrifice that is eternally pleasing to Him.

We are fed on the finest wheat, the sweetest honey, and we are anointed with the the purest olive oil that is poured over our heads and runs down our face. We are like children that laugh and play. We dance and sing like young virgins and the young and old men join in our laughter, our songs, and our merry making because God has descended from Heaven to make His home with us. You are Emmanuel, Beloved, God with us in time and in eternity.  You came to wipe the tears from our eyes and to change our mourning into dancing, our sorrows to joy. Thank You.

John 11:45-56

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

The enemies of Truth are everywhere and especially where one least expects to find them. There were many witnesses to the death and burial of Lazarus. They were a popular family he and his sisters Martha and Mary. They had many friends and their home was open for they were generous. In fact You counted the members of this family as Your closest friends.

You stayed with them to and from Your visits to Jerusalem. You ate with them. You relaxed with them and You were refreshed in their company. They in turn loved You very much more importantly they believed You.

Mary and Martha a grieving the loss of their brother. Hope has died when You did not respond to their message that their brother was dying and had indeed been dead and buried three days before You came to them in Bethany. The house was full of relatives, friends and well wishers who had come to share their grief and offer condolences. When Martha heard You had arrived she ran to meet You and in sadly and gently reproached You for not coming when You were called, “If you had been here, my brother would not have died.  But she continued to have faith in You because she went on to say, But I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” Martha made a declaration of faith. She believed that You are the Resurrection and the Life and with You all things are possible.

You did raise Lazarus from the dead. This was a sign that You really and truly had power over death. An unmistakable sign that indicated that not only were You from God but You were God. The spies of the Chief Priests and the Pharisees were told of this latest miracle. You would think that this would be the clinching evidence that would finally lead them to the Truth and they too would proclaim Your divinity and that Your power was indeed divine. Not so. They loved their temporal place in the scheme of things too much to give it up. They were certain that if things went on without them taking drastic action they would lose everything they loved dearly power, position, authority, to You.

Death nothing less would satisfy them. The Chief Priest prophesied, "You know nothing, nor do you consider that it is better for you that one man should die instead of the people, so that the whole nation may not perish."

You were no longer safe. The hour was swiftly approaching when You would give Yourself up to these sinful men who would not rest until they had done their worst. Little did they know that their scheming would be used by God to bring about the salvation of the whole world. The Chief Priest had prophesied, as Scripture says, that You were going to die for the nation he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation, and not only for the nation, but also to gather into one the dispersed children of God.

Stay with me Lord so I can stay with You through this coming week of sorrow, grief, suffering and loss, leading to renewed and increasing faith, hope, and love. Amen,
