Malachi 3:1-4

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

From the moment humans separated themselves from God forever, He promised to reach out and heal the breach. Time after time we seek in salvation history how God sent prophets assuring us that He would do as He promised. He made covenants with us that we disregarded time and time and again but God remained faithful. Today too we see the prophet Malachi prophesying about a time that God would send His Messenger to prepare the way for the One who was to come. He would come to the temple and every longing that we have ever felt would be satisfied in Him.

You are the One that Scripture refers to. You come to offer Yourself as a pleasing Sacrifice to the Father in expiation for our sins. Nothing unclean can enter the presence of God and so You become the means by which we are saved and Your Precious Blood cleanses us from every sin purifies us so we can become pleasing and acceptable to God once more.

Psalm 24:7-10

Lift up, O gates, your lintels;
reach up, you ancient portals,
that the king of glory may come in!
R. Who is this king of glory? It is the Lord!
Who is this king of glory?
The LORD, strong and mighty,
the LORD, mighty in battle.
R. Who is this king of glory? It is the Lord!
Lift up, O gates, your lintels;
reach up, you ancient portals,
that the king of glory may come in!
R. Who is this king of glory? It is the Lord!
Who is this king of glory?

The LORD of hosts; he is the king of glory.

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

Unless I open my heart, unless I break down the barriers of sin that prevents You from coming to me, unless I raise my heart in praise and longing for You, You cannot enter and make me Your dwelling place. King of my life, You who have given me Your Holy Spirit so I can become His instrument to be used by Him as He wills, grant that I may yield completely to His influence so You may reign in me now and forever.

Hebrews 2:14-18

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

Today we celebrate the feast of Your presentation in the Temple. In order to open the gates of heaven and to restore to us what we had lost, You had to become like us sharing in our humanity. Through Your humanity You could then redeem us by offering Yourself as a ransom for us and paying the price that we never could. The Father sent You into the world to take us into Yourself and in becoming one with You we became children of the Father and heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven. Only God could love so wonderfully, so generously, so completely. We can only say thank you and beg You Beloved to help us to receive the salvation that You have obtained for us on the Cross.

Luke 2:22-32

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

Once again we hear one of the final prophecies about You as old Simeon takes You into his arms. Raising his eyes to heaven he blesses God for the privilege of having seen the Light of Revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of God's people, Israel. You were only a tiny little baby, and no one looking at You could imagine the great destiny that You were born to fulfill. No wonder young Mary trembled at Simeon's  mysterious words which she kept in her heart, and pondered over often.

Mary and Joseph were not puffed up with pride that the had God with them and hence need not be obliged to fulfill the law. Rather in all humility, bringing with the the sacrifice offered by the poor, a pair of turtle doves, they came to the temple to offer to God the Son that was His from all eternity.

Beloved, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like thine always.
