Malachi 3:13-20, Psalm 1:1-4, 6, Luke 11:5-13

DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

Open our hearts, O Lord,
to listen to the words of your Son.  Acts 16:14

Malachi 3:13-20, Psalm 1:1-4, 6, Luke 11:5-13

Malachi 3:13-20

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

Today you demonstrate to us the mind of God and the mind of the world. Those who have a weak, puny faith challenge You saying that the wicked prosper, while those who walk in the way of light and truth gain nothing in this life. So they conclude that it is better to praise the sinner who prospers and call him blessed, for it appears that evildoers who sin and tempt God with impunity are not called to account.  However, those who love You, who serve You are ware that this is not true. I thank You Beloved of my soul for assuring Your faithful ones that we are Your own special possession to us You will show Your compassion as a father to his child and then we will see for ourselves how You deal with the wicked, the unrighteous, the unrepentant, and willful sinner and the one who serves You in spirit and in truth.

The day of reckoning will come in time and on that day no one will escape the One to whom all power is granted to judge the living and the dead. Those who are condemned will be swept away from the sight of the Almighty but those who have lived a life of reverence and holy awe of Your Name will be given new life, the life of the Resurrection from the Son of Justice and they will reign with You, the Father and the Holy Spirit forever.

Psalm 1:1-4, 6

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

We have only to look at the numerous Saints that the Church has given us as models to imitate to realize that the wicked from all generations have been forgotten, but the lives of Your holy ones, are remembered and honored.

The psalmist tells us how to live justly, and to walk in the way of truth that leads to life. One who is planted in You and has put down roots deep in You will have Your life flowing through them to nourish and strengthen them. They will produce good fruit in all seasons, fruit that will last.

They will have life giving water to quench their thirst and they will have grace available to them always to overcome and resist evil. The one who shelters in the shadow of the Most High will have God as Savior, Father, and Guide. Alleluia!

Luke 11:5-13

Dear Love, Beloved of my soul,

To us who believe, who have been baptized, who are members of Your Body, has been given the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven. It is not hidden from us. You came into the world to make known to us the Father's love, to open the way back to the Father's house, and to pour upon us Your Holy Spirit because without His help we would fall by the wayside.

We know how to receive from God all that we need - according to You Word, persistence in prayer, guarantees us that in the end, if we are patient and never give up, God will grant us all we need to live happy, fulfilled lives. He will bless us. All we need to do is ask with the confidence of a child, we need to be attentive to the voice of the Lord for You speak to us constantly but we need to quiet all the other voices that clamor for attention and recognize the quiet voice of the Holy Spirit. Persistence in prayer, making our needs known to You through intercession and supplication, will in the end gain for us all that God Himself desires to give us if only we hunger and thirst for it. In Your own words Beloved, You say to us today,

"If you then, who are wicked,
know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"
