DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
PENTECOST SUNDAY
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Acts 2:1-11, Psalm 104:1, 24, 29-31, 34,
1 Corinthians 12:3-7, 12-13, John 20:19-23
Acts 2:1-11
Dear Love,
The work of the Holy Spirit is to set the world on fire with love for You. To make known the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, and to bear witness to the Work of the Father through the obedience of His Son in laying down His life to redeem the world. This is the Good News that the Apostles preached on the day of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit came down upon them and they were no longer the same. This same Spirit is given to each of us who are baptized and as Catholics who are strengthened in the Sacrament of Confirmation we too ought to be on fire just as the disciples were. We ought to be channels through which we who are set on fire by the Holy Spirit are able in turn to set the world on fire. Instead, we have allowed the world and the prevalent culture of the world to close in our own selfish needs and desires.
Thank You Beloved, for the remnant in whom the Holy Spirit cannot be quenched. They carry out the mission given to all the baptized boldly and in imitation of You are prepared to lay down their lives for the sake of the Gospel. Many will be saved because of their faithfulness in preaching the Good News in season and out of season. In Your goodness Lord count me as one of them. Help me not be closed in on myself but to live my life for other.
Psalm 104:1, 24, 29-31, 34
Dear Love,
Sent forth Your Spirit anew and set the whole world on fire with Your divine love. Lord we are weak, but You can step in and enable us to move out of our narrow lives and grant us a holy desire to reach out to the world in Your Name and in the power of Your mighty Spirit. May all who know You be granted a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit so we can set forth anew to make You known. The world needs You but they do not know You. This is my mission Lord and if I am unmindful of the grave duty that is entrusted to me then many will fall by the wayside and I with them.
Be true to Your promise Beloved, send forth Your Spirit once more and renew the Church, renew each one of us who are its members and then we shall go forth once more to make You known, loved, praised, and adored all over the earth.
1 Corinthians 12:3-7, 12-13
Brothers and sisters:
No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit;
there are different forms of service but the same Lord;
there are different workings but the same God
who produces all of them in everyone.
To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit
is given for some benefit.
As a body is one though it has many parts,
and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body,
so also Christ.
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body,
whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons,
and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.
John 20:19-23
On the evening of that first day of the week,
when the doors were locked, where the disciples were,
for fear of the Jews,
Jesus came and stood in their midst
and said to them, "Peace be with you."
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side.
The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you.
As the Father has sent me, so I send you."
And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them,
"Receive the Holy Spirit.
Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them,
and whose sins you retain are retained."
