DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS
Rejoice and be glad;
for your reward will be great in heaven. Mt 5:12A
2 Corinthians 1:1-7, Psalm 34:2-9, Matthew 5:1-12
2 Corinthians 1:1-7
Dear Love,
St. Paul reminds us that Your Father is the Father of compassion and the God of all encouragement who encourages us in our every affliction, in order that we may encourage those who are suffering. All the encouragement we have received from You during our times of trial we must share with those who are undergoing the same difficulties and sorrow. Truly we are Your Body and if one member suffers the whole Body suffers. This is why You say that we are our brothers' and sisters' keeper. Just as we are all called and privileged to share Your suffering which won our redemption so too are we to share the benefits that flow from Your suffering. As we have received so must we give.
Psalm 34:2-9
Dear Love,
Today we are invited to taste and see how good our God is. We are invited to come to the Eucharistic table and there eat the finest wheat, have the sweetest honey, and partake of the best wine. We are invited to come and have our fill. There is enough for all who respond to this invitation of love. The poor, the humble, the fainthearted, the weary are most especially called to come and feast at the table of the Lord and be refreshed, renewed, and strengthened. There is place for all at the Father's table.
Grant dear Love that I may always turn to You with all the confidence of a child. From You I receive every good and perfect gift and my heart rejoices, exults and is made glad. Thank You for calling me out of darkness into Your radiance. Keep me safe under Your wings always.
Matthew 5:1-12
Dear Love,
Every Christian who strives to be worthy of this name will also strive to be like You. Today we read how You taught the crowds and the disciples who came to You. You sat among them and You revealed to them the heart of a true disciple who worships God and abides by the eternal truths revealed by You.
The Beatitudes are a blue print of who You are and as members of Your Body, we are called to imitate You, be like You in every way. This is possible with the help of the Holy Spirit.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you
and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me.
Rejoice and be glad,
for your reward will be great in heaven.
Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
We live in difficult times dear Love, grant us the grace to persevere to the end. Thank You.
