DAILY HOLY MASS READINGS

A great prophet has arisen in our midst
and God has visited his people. Luke 7:16

1 Corinthians 2:10b-16, Psalm 145:10-14, Luke 4:31-37

1 Corinthians 2:10b-16

My soul's beloved, we are reminded today that God does not scatter pearls among swine and so divine wisdom is granted only to those are attuned to Your Spirit. To the unspiritual mind the gifts of the Spirit of God are considered folly and they are unable to understand Your thoughts, or Your ways. But to those whom You call friends, You give the power to be called children of God for they know You the One whom He sent.

Psalm 145:10-14

My soul's beloved, Your Kingdom is everlasting as is Your dominion and Your rule for it pleases the Father to  give You authority and power over all. You in turn are faithful and kind, You do not put out the flickering wick or crush the bruised reed. You are loving kindness to all especially the weak, the sinner, the outcast, the forgotten. You came to seek those whom the world has pushed to the outside making them invisible. But You stoop lovingly over all and in the end You will raise them up and seat them in places of honor at the banquet feast.

Luke 4:31-37

My soul's beloved, You are the Eternal Word of God all that is was created at the utterance of the Word made Flesh who dwelt among us and gave us the power to become children of God. It is You Word that upholds and sustains all things. It is Your Word that has authority, and power and all that You desire to be carried out is accomplished at Your command. Demons tremble before You for You possess the power to destroy them. No evil can flourish in Your Presence and this is why we must always remain on guard that we do not permit ourselves to be robbed of what is granted to us freely in love. Our eternal destiny with You.
