Daily Inspiration:  Psalm 5:13

Psalm 5:13

13 You bless all who live in righteousness; your favor covers them as a shield.

I do feel blessed, protected and encompassed by Your beautiful and loving Presence always.  You fill me with joy and a sense of belonging.  I know in every fiber of my being that I am Yours and Yours alone.

Daily Mass Readings:  Genesis 17:3-9, John 8:51-59, Psalm 105:4-9

Genesis 17:3-9

My Beloved, You called Abraham and He fell on his face before You while You made known  to him where his place was in Your awesome plan.  He was to be the father of a multitude of nations and this Covenant was to bind You to Abraham and to all future generations that were to follow.  The blessings that would flow would be both spiritual and temporal and You promised to be the God of the race that You created from the dust of the earth and into whose nostrils, You breathed Your own life.  We on our part are called to hold on firmly and keep sacred the Covenant that would be sealed and ratified again in the precious Blood of the Lamb.

John 8:51-59

You whose Name is Truth spoke and confirmed that faith in You and Your Word results in everlasting life.  You were rejected immediately and completely by some of Your hearers.  They saw You, heard You, knew You were witness to the the mighty miracles and signs that You worked daily and they still chose to remain ignorant.

The whole Old Testament points to You as clearly as the dawn lights the night sky and gets steadily brighter as the sun climbs high in the sky.  At the very peak of your human life on earth, You fulfilled every one of the prophecies made of the Messiah and yet those who were hard of heart were unwilling to believe.  If they did, then there had to be a complete metanoia.  Even today the hard of  heart refuse to listen, refuse to see, refuse to accept and believe for if they did, then lives must change and sin must be called by its rightful name and be rejected.  The spiritually blind, lame, deaf, the leper, the beggar and the cripple are unwilling to be challenged.  They prefer the familiarity of their sins.

If we look at You as only a man who lived 2000 years ago and died we are the most unfortunate and miserable of all creatures.  But if we saw You as who You said You are,  then we would understand the truth of what You said,  "Truly I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."  The wicked were outraged at Your words and picked up stones to throw at You in order to kill Truth that challenged them.  Today too Your followers have to suffer persecution, for we continue to challenge the world with Truth.  A Truth that is uncomfortable and from which they would rather hide.

Psalm 105:4,8-9

Grant that I may look at You always and see You not only in myself but in those around me.  If I keep You ever before my eyes, I will be strong.  Not only do You remember Your eternal covenant of love, but it remains effective as long as time lasts.  Thank You Beloved for including not only me and my family but also the generations to follow in this Covenant that You swore to our ancestors in faith.
